Battle of Bosworth makes certified-organic McLaren Vale wines from family vineyards first planted in the 1840s. Joch Bosworth combines sustainable farming, old vines and minimal-intervention winemaking to produce expressive regional wines. In 1995, Joch Bosworth took over the family’s 77-hectare vineyard, transforming it into one of McLaren Vale’s first certified organic vineyards. The winery, established in 2001 by Joch and Louise Hemsley-Smith, embodies a dedication to organic farming and the production of wines that reflect the purity and character of their region. Joch’s commitment to organic principles began with an increasing sense of discomfort about using synthetic chemicals on his soils. The benign Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale is well suited to old fashioned organic farming techniques. Battle of Bosworth produces balanced, single vineyard wines with power and elegance that best express the qualities and characteristics of the site.
