Bouchard Aîné & Fils, founded in 1750 in Beaune, the historical heart of Burgundy, and housed in the cellars in the Hôtel du Conseiller du Roy, has earned acclaim for its expertise in crafting Burgundy’s treasured Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for over two centuries. It now forms part of the Boisset family wine company, one of the world’s leading luxury wine producers. Chief winemaker, Laurent Mairet, has been persuing excellence in the Bouchard cellar for 20 years.
Full of history and with fine flavour our Héritage du Conseiller pay tribute to the numerous commitments of Paul Bouchard (1814-1898). He represents the 5th. generation of the family and offered an international destiny to the House, but also to the entire region and its wines. Known as the Grand Conseiller, Paul was both a politician and a visionary. Mayor, Subprefect, Departmental Counsellor of Côte d’Or, he was not only involved in his city and the vines, but played also a major role in the technical and commercial development of Bouchard Ainé & Fils. He founded the Viticultural School of Beaune, whose teaching helped to understand the various diseases of the vine, including Phylloxera. This technical development is also marked by a qualitative approach based on the art of blending, this Paul’s conception of quality has remained in the fundamentals of the House.
