Helen's Hill

Established
1997

Guided by Mother Nature and driven by passion, Helen’s Hill is a Halliday 5 Red Star winery located in Coldstream in the heart of the Yarra Valley. The estate spans more than 150 acres of vineyard at the mouth of the valley, with varying elevations and aspects that create a diverse range of microclimates. These unique sites allow the team to match each grape variety to its ideal position, producing wines that express the distinctive character of the Yarra Valley.

Founded by Allan and Robyn, who carefully searched the region for a site with the right combination of hills, soils and climate, Helen’s Hill today produces wines across three labels. The Ingram Road range focuses on generous, fruit-forward wines designed for immediate enjoyment, while the Helen’s Hill Estate wines highlight the finest blocks across the vineyard and are crafted with structure and complexity to reward cellaring. The Single Clone Pinot Noir Project explores the nuances of different Pinot Noir clones grown on the property, while the Winemaker’s Reserve wines represent the pinnacle of the vineyard and winemaking program.

The philosophy in both vineyard and winery is centred on sustainability, minimal intervention and respect for site. Fruit is carefully selected from specific rows and hand-picked before being fermented in small batches, often in French oak barrels. Each parcel is assessed individually, with only the finest barrels selected for the final blends. Under the guidance of winemaker Scott McCarthy, the goal is simple: balance. By harvesting fruit at optimal ripeness and allowing the vineyard to guide the process, the wines showcase purity, structure and the unmistakable character of the Helen’s Hill estate.
