JJ Hahn embodies six generations of Barossa Valley heritage. Maria and Johann Christian Hahn arrived in the Barossa Valley in 1845, part of the wave of SilesianGerman settlers who helped shape the region. Like many early settlers, they secured premium farmland, laying the foundations for what would become a long family connection to viticulture. Founded on land secured by early Barossa settlers in 1914, the Hahn family established deep roots in the region, with the property fully planted to vines by 1970 and grape growing becoming a way of life across six generations. In 1997, James and Jackie Hahn expanded this legacy by launching their own range of red wines in partnership with renowned Barossa winemaker Rolf Binder, marking the beginning of the JJ Hahn label. Following the Hahns’ retirement in 2010, Rolf retained co-ownership while continuing to oversee winemaking and vineyard management. In 2023, leadership transitioned to Thomas White, who has been crafting the wines since 2021, with Rolf remaining involved in vintage oversight and blending.
