This October, Vintage Wine Co is welcoming four new Italian producers to the portfolio, bringing fresh releases from Piedmont, Veneto, Marche and Abruzzo.
From the structured, mineral whites of Matelica and classic Langhe reds to fresh Prosecco and characterful wines from Abruzzo, the new arrivals add even more regional diversity to our growing Italian collection.
Belisario | Marche
Based in Matelica in the Marche, Belisario has been producing wine since 1971 and is the largest producer of Verdicchio di Matelica DOC. The estate works with around 300 hectares of vineyards throughout the Alta Vallesina, an inland growing area where significant day-to-night temperature variation helps Verdicchio retain its freshness and natural acidity while developing impressive flavour and structure. Joining the Vintage Wine Co portfolio are two expressions of the variety: Valbona Verdicchio di Matelica DOC, a fresh and approachable style, and Del Cerro Verdicchio di Matelica DOC, offering greater texture, structure and persistence. Bright, mineral and incredibly food-friendly, these are wines that show just how distinctive Verdicchio can be when grown in Matelica.
Casa Coller | Veneto
From Veneto comes Casa Coller, the sparkling wine range from Cantine Pirovano, a family producer backed by five generations of winemaking experience. Leading the arrival is Casa Coller Prosecco DOC Spumante Extra Dry, made from Glera and produced using the traditional Charmat method. Soft straw yellow in the glass with a persistent fine mousse, it offers delicate notes of pear and peach, with an easy balance of gentle sweetness and refreshing acidity. Fresh, approachable and built for the on-premise, Casa Coller is an easy addition to aperitivo lists, by-the-glass programs and celebrations as we head into the warmer months.
Mario Marengo | Piedmont
The arrival of Mario Marengo brings another exciting name from Piedmont to the Vintage Wine Co portfolio. Based in La Morra, the Marengo family has been making wine for four generations, with the estate dating back to 1899. Today, the family works with a small collection of vineyards across some of the Langhe’s most recognised sites, producing wines centred around Nebbiolo and Barolo. The Marengo style brings together the unmistakable character of the Langhe with a polished, contemporary approach. Expect Nebbiolo, Barbera and Barolo, including wines from renowned vineyards such as Brunate and Bricco delle Viole. For venues looking to strengthen the Piedmont section of their list, Mario Marengo offers wines with provenance, personality and a genuine family story behind them.
Sistina | Abruzzo
Rounding out the October arrivals is Sistina, a range from Abruzzo producer Citra. Citra brings together approximately 3,000 grower families and 6,000 hectares of vineyards across Abruzzo, giving the winery an extraordinary connection to the region and its traditional varieties. The Sistina range places the focus firmly on expressive, food-friendly wines, including classic Abruzzese varieties such as Montepulciano and Pecorino. Expect wines with freshness and generosity at their core: vibrant whites with fruit, florals and minerality alongside rich, structured reds led by Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. They are approachable wines with strong regional identity and plenty of versatility for the Australian market.
